Hi This is my first thread ever put up on a forum for anything, so here we go. I've been reading and listening for many months on how to set up my first saltwater tank,. I finally set up and filled with water everything seemed OK. On the 2/3/20 my ammonia spiked at 4ppm nitrite 0 nitrate 0 we are now on the 6/3/20 and my ammonia reading 2ppm nitrite 5 nitrate of what looks like 80 I had started the cycle using Dr tims ammonium and a double dose of api quick start, I'm unsure what my next move should be. Do I add ammonia, a small water change, or sit back and leave it to it. Please help I didn't think a single body of fishless water would be a constant worry, 😂 If I can work out how to send a photo I will send test results.
I would leave it alone for now until the ammonia is close to 0.5 then top up to 1ppm again. You should see that drop quickly and nitrite rise quickly. It will take maybe a week until nitrate begins to show. Then when you’re ready let the ammonia drop to 0 before adding some clean up crew. Then be prepared for a verity of algea to grow and die off, this is all good
Don’t over worry about nitrite it isn’t poisonous like it is in freshwater, marine creatures can stand quite high levels but try and keep them under 5 before adding any livestock if you can
Thanks, for your time it's very much appreciated, I will do just that, i never thought myself some one to flap but since this glass box has come into my life this has changed.

Stress not after all what can go wrong. You’ll be ok don’t worry, every cycle is a little different there’s no rules with it apart from take it slowly, that will pay off long term
if you’re unsure of anything just ask, we were all new to this once
